Cameroon advanced to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals after beating South Africa 2-1 in Rabat. Even with South Africa’s (Bafana Bafana) early pressure, the Indomitable Lions advanced clinically.

A crucial three-minute spell in the first half gave Cameroon the lead. C. Kofane scored in the 37th minute after J. Tchamadeu scored in the 34th. South Africa had dominated possession and created early scoring chances, so these back-to-back strikes gave Cameroon a buffer.
Bafana Bafana pressed throughout the second half. E. Makgopa scored in the 87th minute to cut the deficit. Despite late pressure, Cameroon’s defense held the lead until the whistle. Carlos Baleba of Cameroon was named Man of the Match for his impact.

After this win, Cameroon will face host nation Morocco in the quarterfinals at the Stade Moulay Abdellah on Friday. South Africa exited the competition, but head coach Hugo Broos said the team would focus on World Cup qualification.
