Trent Alexander-Arnold to leave Liverpool for free

Sports Tribune sources report that Trent Alexander-Arnold turned down a deal to become one of the highest-paid fullbacks in the world, leading to his free transfer from Liverpool at the end of his contract this summer.
A statement released Monday confirmed the England international’s expected free transfer to Real Madrid this summer. In March, sources informed Sports Tribune that Real Madrid is highly optimistic about acquiring Trent Alexander-Arnold despite the absence of a finalized contract.
Alexander-Arnold stated that the decision wasn’t easy, and a lot of consideration went into it. “This place has been my home for two decades, filled with joy and the realization of all my dreams.”
“After 20 years of consistent hard work, I’m ready for a new challenge, both personally and professionally. The time is right, I think, to share this with you.”
Alexander-Arnold’s contract with Liverpool, which began when he was six, ends at the close of the season.
With 349 appearances and seven major trophies for Liverpool, their 26-year-old right-back (named vice-captain in the summer of 2023) has had a remarkable career. In Madrid, he is reuniting with his close friend and fellow England player, Jude Bellingham.
Sources say Alexander-Arnold’s contract talks with Liverpool began under Klopp and continued after Slot’s appointment.
According to sources, with Hughes leading talks, Alexander-Arnold and Liverpool had positive negotiations including a significant pay raise offer; however, Liverpool realized this spring that Alexander-Arnold wouldn’t re-sign, and he informed Slot of his departure last month.
“I have a lot to say,” explained Alexander-Arnold. I especially want to thank you [supporters] for everything. Your consistent support since the beginning means a lot to me.”
“I deeply appreciate all your support and love; it hasn’t gone unnoticed, and I’ve loved every second. I hope the club has appreciated my efforts and that I’ve given my all.”
“I hope that our winning streak will continue, unaffected by the controversy over my decision and this season’s accomplishments”.
“This season has been incredible. Being part of this has been amazing, and I hope everyone can set aside this news and celebrate our team’s success”.
