Hearts of Oak will begin the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season at the Accra Sports Stadium by playing against newly promoted Hohoe United, and the Phobians hope to mount a serious title challenge after a previous season of ups and downs.
Didi Dramani’s team finished in the top four after a late surge last season. The new and inexperienced are considered underdogs. Yet, Hearts are keen to avoid a premature downfall in their quest for league success, with a rebuilt technical setup that includes Aboubakar Ouattara as Special Advisor.
Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko, the arch-rivals and title holders, will have a tough opening match away against Berekum Chelsea, a place where they have struggled.
Kotoko began the season with momentum from their President and Toyota Cup wins, and the permanent hiring of Karim Zito, whose arrival in the middle of the season revived the team after they had fired Prosper Ogum. The Porcupine Warriors, also focused on continental football, want a winning start to the league, but Chelsea, who held Kotoko to a draw last season, will be a tough challenge.
The Ghana Premier League for 2025/26 begins the weekend of September 12, 2025.
