Michael Essien will continue his tenure at FC Nordsjaeland

Ghanaian football legend Michael Essien will remain with Danish club FC Nordsjælland until 2027, thanks to a new two-year contract.
Since 2020, Essien has been a key member of FC Nordsjælland’s technical staff, initially combining playing and coaching roles before focusing solely on coaching.
He has spent the last five years quietly yet effectively influencing player development and mentoring young athletes.

Essien’s UEFA A License, coupled with specialized UEFA courses in football management and organization, uniquely positions him with elite playing experience and developing tactical skills.
He boasts a stellar career, having played in the Champions League, Premier League, and La Liga for Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Lyon and earned 59 caps for Ghana.
Having spurned a 2024 offer to join Ghana’s national team as assistant coach to Otto Addo, Essien prioritized European club football, leading to his contract extension.
