The legal case involving 32-year-old Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey has escalated, as The Telegraph reports two additional rape charges against him.
The Crown Prosecution Service has approved new charges, adding to those Partey is already contesting. He previously pleaded not guilty to five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault at Southwark Crown Court in September last year.
The alleged offenses occurred between 2021 and 2022, during his tenure as a regular starter for a north London Premier League club. His contract ended in June, and he was formally charged four days after leaving the club.
Partey is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 13 March, regarding the latest charges. He remains on bail and is set to stand trial on November 2. His bail conditions allow him to continue playing football, require 24 hours’ notice to police before international travel, and prohibit contact with the complainants.
Partey currently plays for Villarreal in Spain’s La Liga as a free agent and remains active with the Ghana national team. Ghana is scheduled to play England, Panama, and Croatia in the 2026 World Cup this June.
Legal proceedings are ongoing, and the court has not yet assessed the accusations.
