Ghana coach Otto Addo commends Jordan Ayew, praising his consistent performance.
Despite frequently receiving criticism, Addo reveals that his fellow players hold Ayew in high regard and describe him as disciplined and consistently present.
Ayew has shown excellent form lately, finding the back of the net four times in his last two games for Ghana.
Ghana’s back-to-back wins against Mali and Central African Republic in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, thanks to these goals, have boosted their chances of qualifying for the tournament.
With 28 goals in 104 appearances, he is now the country’s third most-capped player.
“All the players have a very good opinion of him [Jordan Ayew]. He’s always disciplined, always shows up very, very dedicated to the national team, and that’s his job,” Addo said.
“Sometimes, and maybe people don’t see this, as I know they expect strikers to score when he doesn’t score, he does a good job and excellent defensive work, closing down gaps, winning duels, running, and pressing. Even if he doesn’t score, I think we see his benefits for me and other coaches. I was happy for him that he scored.”
Ayew’s performance will be crucial for Ghana in their upcoming matches against Angola and Niger in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers this September.
