I turned down a 2006 Ghana offer because of my German ties

Kevin-Prince Boateng admitted he once turned down a Ghana call-up during his playing days at AC Milan.
Prince Boateng changed his nationality to play for the West African nation in 2010, before the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Following his strong showing in the tournament, the former Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona midfielder became a core Black Stars player.
Nevertheless, in an interview Bona Fide Sports, the 38-year-old disclosed that he had once declined to play for Ghana because he identified more with his German heritage.
“I grew up in a German in my house. My brain just wasn’t German at following rules. That’s my arrogance, but that was my talent as well.
“Ghana offered me already to play at the 2006 World Cup, and I said no because I still saw my chance in Germany, because you think about your career; it’s bigger to play for Germany.
“Then 2010, I was like, nah, it’s not bigger, I’m big already. Everybody knows my name; it doesn’t matter what nationality I play,” he added.
Boateng also participated in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. He played 15 times for Ghana, scoring two goals.
