Fans will go to the World Cup, but funding is very important – Kofi Adams

Kofi Adams, Minister for Sports and Recreation, has revealed that the government is considering sending Ghanaian fans to cheer at the FIFA World Cup. The size of the cheering squad will depend on how much support the new fundraising committee can rally.

The Minister, during his appearance on Asempa 94.7 FM in Accra, stated that the policy is now clear: Ghana’s fans will represent the nation at the tournament.

“The policy that we should take for fans is clear. It is clear that we should work on it, which is why we have set up a fundraising committee. The number we would take ultimately will depend on how much we raise,” he stated.

He explained that the committee’s mission is to gather the resources needed to send passionate Black Stars supporters to the global stage, covering their travel and accommodation.

He confessed. He admitted that the plan comes with a hefty price tag, so the government will reach out to both private companies and everyday Ghanaians for support. We are appealing to corporate bodies, companies, mining firms, and well-meaning individuals to come on board and support this initiative,” he added.

While the exact number of traveling fans remains uncertain, Adams emphasized that the more funds raised, the more Ghanaian supporters can join the World Cup adventure.
