Black Queens midfielder Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah has given her teammates credit for reaching the quarterfinals of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Ghana overcame a challenging start to the tournament by winning their final group game 4-1 against Tanzania at the Stade Municipal de Berkane on Monday.
Princella Adubea, Alice Kusi, Evelyn Badu, and Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah each scored, leading the Black Queens to a win and second place in Group C.
Boye-Hlorkah showed appreciation and congratulated her teammates after their win.
“I am just proud, so proud of the girls. I try to lead. I am very vocal on the pitch. I try to push the team as much as I can. The girls picked me up, too,” she said.
“I told them that we will not win this game without playing as a team. I am so proud of Ghana, of the fans. I am so proud to be Ghanaian,” the England-born midfielder added.
Now turning their attention to the quarterfinals, the Black Queens will play Algeria at the Stade Municipal de Berkane this Saturday, July 19. The event starts at 5 PM GMT.
