The Baba Yara Sports Stadium has reopened for football events, according to Patience Adams, the NSA’s Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer.
Miss Adams confirmed to Akoma FM that the venue is ready but needs official approval from their superiors in Accra before reopening.
Miss Adams confirmed that all work at the Baba Yara Stadium has been completed, making it ready to host any football events. However, the facility is awaiting clearance from Accra before it can be opened.
The stadium was closed for renovations because CAF declared it unsuitable for international matches, mainly due to the poor pitch condition.
As a result of the stadium’s closure, Ghana had to relocate its 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Sudan to Accra, and Asante Kotoko SC had to transfer their home games to Obuasi.
The sports community eagerly anticipates Accra’s approval, given the significant potential for upcoming events at Baba Yara Stadium.
The Kumasi venue will showcase local and international fixtures, solidifying its status as a premier football destination.
