Nigerian forward Wisdom Fernando has officially signed a three-year agreement with Asante Kotoko, according to our source at the club.
The ex-Akwa United player has been signed as a replacement for Bernard Somuah, who has been loaned out to Spanish team Celta Fortuna.
Fernando’s registration was officially concluded on Sunday, August 25, 2024, the last day of the transfer window.
He will be part of the team in Cape Coast, where the Porcupine Warriors are diligently preparing for the upcoming season, ensuring the fans that the team is in good hands.
Following the conclusion of his loan at Sporting Lagos and the expiration of his contract with Akwa, the 22-year-old winger has joined Kotoko on a free transfer.
Fernando has played for Akwa and Sporting for seven seasons and recorded seven goals and eight assists in 76 appearances in the Nigerian Professional Football League.
With his impressive displays, he played a vital part in Akwa’s triumph as they won the Nigeria Premier Football League title in the 2020-21 season, a testament to his potential and skill that should instill confidence in the fans.
Fernando is the fifth foreign player to join the Ghanaian giants this transfer window, following Sudanese duo Esmat Abdulhamid and AbdoelRahman Yoouef Yagoub, Congolese defender Samba O’Neil, and Guinean goalkeeper Mohamed Camara.
