Real Madrid is finalizing a deal after triggering Dean Huijsen’s release clause

Dean Huijsen will join Real Madrid after they paid his release clause to Bournemouth.
Player representatives will be in Madrid on Thursday to discuss contract details, including length. Negotiations are progressing well.
The clubs have agreed to a three-part payment plan for the £50 million ($64.8m), and Madrid aims for a swift resolution.
Next month’s Club World Cup in the US has prompted them to want Huijsen on their team.
Besides Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Newcastle, and Tottenham Hotspur had also shown interest in the 20-year-old before.
Bournemouth signed Huijsen from Juventus for €15million (£12.6m) in July 2024 on a six-year contract. His successful season on the south coast included 34 appearances across all competitions and three goals.
Earlier this year, the center-back got his first call-up to the Spanish national team; he previously played for the Netherlands at the youth level.
Following a stint with Juventus Next Gen, Huijsen featured briefly for Juventus before a loan move to Roma in the second half of 2023-24, yielding 14 appearances and two goals.
Madrid’s second summer signing will be Huijsen, who will join Trent Alexander-Arnold. The right-back will leave Liverpool this summer when his contract ends, and Madrid expects him to join as a free agent.
Madrid is bolstering its defense in response to a campaign ravaged by defensive injuries. Carvajal and Militao are out with ACL tears, and Alaba and Rudiger, both 32, recently had season-ending surgeries.
