Napoli Win Serie A with McTominay Stunner

A stunning scissor-kick goal by Scotland’s Scott McTominay propelled Napoli to victory over Cagliari, securing their fourth Serie A title.
Napoli, needing a win to secure the Serie A title, played at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona to a passionate crowd, while Inter Milan held a 2-0 lead against Como.
Following an opening period of dominance by the home team, McTominay, a recent £25.7m signing from Manchester United to Napoli, scored a spectacular acrobatic goal from Politano’s right-wing cross.

Napoli would claim their second Italian title in three seasons with a win, a feat Romelu Lukaku accomplished by powerfully outmaneuvering Michel Adopo to score past Alen Sherri.
The goal caused chaotic celebrations from Napoli’s substitutes and coaching staff, who ran onto the field. Lukaku received a yellow card for his shirtless display.
A celebratory mood pervaded the rest of the match as Napoli, champions once more after previous wins in 1986-87, 1989-90, and 2022-23, prepared for the trophy presentation.

“It happened again, and it’s something wonderful,” said Conte. “When we got to the stadium, getting in was difficult, as I don’t know how many people were there. I had a slight thought: if we let these people down, it’d be something we carried with us for a long time.
“It was certainly the most unexpected, difficult, and stimulating challenge of my career. To come to Napoli after 10th place [in 2023-24] and try to get everything back on track, and convince some of the best players to remain because we could do something positive.”
McTominay’s 12 goals and four assists throughout the campaign earned him the Serie A Player of the Season award.
