Liverpool Football Club announced a return to Adidas as their kit provider, starting in August.
While the club calls it a multi-year deal, it’s a five-year contract exceeding £300m.
According to estimations, the deal is comparable to Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester City’s yearly £60 million sponsorship payments from Adidas, Nike, and Puma.
Adidas pays Manchester United £90 million yearly, a Premier League record, but this figure can decrease depending on Champions League qualification and other sporting success.
Liverpool’s five-year deal with Nike concludes with the 2020 replacement of New Balance. Although the deal was initially worth at least £30m, adding royalties, commissions, and promotions (including those from Liverpool shareholder LeBron James), the annual value was closer to £60m.
Adidas and Liverpool’s partnership lasted from 2006 until 2012. The large German sportswear company will provide kits and training wear for men’s, women’s, and academy teams. The new deal commences on August 1st this summer.
“We’re all incredibly excited to welcome Adidas back to LFC,” announced Billy Hogan, CEO of Liverpool Football Club.
“Our past collaborations have yielded incredible success, resulting in some of LFC’s most memorable kits. We’re incredibly excited to continue our partnership with Liverpool; sharing a drive for success, we look forward to designing outstanding kits to boost their performance. We want to thank Nike for their past five years of support and wish them a prosperous future”.
“The reunion of Adidas and Liverpool Football Club thrills us,” stated Adidas CEO Bjørn Gulden.
“Past partnerships have yielded some of history’s best jerseys. It is an honor to provide players with top-tier technology again to help them excel, and we eagerly anticipate crafting more classic experiences for our fans”.
