Klopp Dismisses Real Madrid Links but Leaves Door Open to Coaching Return

Former Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp has dismissed reports linking him with a summer move to Real Madrid, calling the speculation “nonsense.”

Klopp, who is 58 and left Liverpool after the 2023-24 season, now works as head of global football for Red Bull. He said that neither he nor his agent has been contacted by Real Madrid.

While speaking in Munich, Klopp said he is not planning to return to management right now, but he did not rule out coaching again in the future. He also mentioned that he is not at retirement age yet, though he has no immediate plans.

Klopp left Liverpool after almost nine years, saying he needed a break. While at the club, he won the UEFA Champions League in 2019 and led Liverpool to their first Premier League title in 30 years in 2020. He also won the FA Cup, two League Cups, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Although Klopp is open to coaching again someday, he made it clear he would never manage another English club besides Liverpool. Earlier in his career, he found success in Germany with Mainz 05 and Borussia Dortmund, winning Bundesliga titles with Dortmund in 2011 and 2012.
