Liverpool sign striker Ekitike for £69m

Liverpool and Eintracht Frankfurt struck a £69m deal for Hugo Ekitike.
A medical is scheduled for the 23-year-old Frenchman on Tuesday following his arrival in the UK.
Frankfurt’s acceptance of the deal came with a guaranteed £69m and a further £10m in potential add-ons, totaling £79m.
Ekitike’s anticipated six-year contract signing will be followed by his departure for Liverpool’s Asian tour later this week.
Newcastle’s £70 million bid for Ekitike was rejected this month; Liverpool is showing interest in their striker, Alexander Isak.
Frankfurt’s third-place Bundesliga finish last season included 15 goals from Ekitike across 31 starts.
Liverpool will have spent over £250 million this summer once he arrives.
A potential British record £116m went to Florian Wirtz, while £70m went to defenders Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong.
Last season in the Bundesliga, only five players scored more goals than Ekitike, who also had eight assists.
No other player had more shots on goal than his 117.
