Liverpool makes a £105 million bid for Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz

Liverpool submitted a £105m offer to acquire Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz.
The player is valued at €150m by the German club, or slightly more than £126m.
Bayern Munich and Manchester City also wanted the 22-year-old, a standout performer in the Bundesliga last season.

The Premier League champions’ understanding was that the player wished to stay in Germany, up to seven days ago, but this has changed; he now wants to go to Liverpool.

Wirtz, a long-time Leverkusen player, had a 10-goal, 12-assist season in 25 starts; his team finished second to Bayern Munich, following a previous year’s league and cup win.
In 2023, Chelsea’s purchase of Enzo Fernandez from Benfica set a British record of £107m.
