Arne Slot has made Giorgi Mamardashvili his first signing as Liverpool manager, but the goalkeeper will continue playing for Valencia until next summer.
Liverpool and the Georgia international have struck a deal, with a transfer fee of £25m plus £4m in potential extras.
Mamardashvili will transfer to Anfield in 2025, where he will probably compete with Alisson and Caoimhin Kelleher for the starting goalkeeper role.
The 6’6″ defender rose through the ranks at Dinamo Tbilisi, his hometown club, but never played for the first team. Instead, he had loan stints at Rustavi and Locomotiv Tbilisi before joining Valencia in 2021.
The 2023/24 season concluded with his 100th game for Valencia, and he is starting the new season with the No. 1 shirt.
