Pep Guardiola has reaffirmed his backing for Manchester City following an independent commission’s ruling that his former club committed serious breaches of Premier League financial rules.
In a social media message, Guardiola voiced his support for City’s players, staff, fans and leadership, alongside current manager Enzo Maresca.
“We will get through this together. I love you all,” he wrote.
Sky Sports reported that the commission found City had inflated their revenue by £830 million through agreements with commercial partners between the 2009/10 and 2017/18 seasons. The findings also covered financial reporting, spending limits and the club’s cooperation with investigators.
City maintain their innocence and plan to appeal, citing what they describe as errors of law, principle and fact in the decision.
Guardiola, who led the club from 2016 to 2026, pledged his continued support as City prepare to contest the ruling.
