Samuel Osei Kuffour, the former Ghanaian defender, is backing Asante Kotoko to win the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League and has confidently put $5,000 on his prediction.
After a lively ‘Monday Stars’ football match in Accra, the former Bayern Munich and AS Roma centre-back made his bold prediction while chatting with excited fans.
Asked which team he expected to finish as champions, Kuffour replied: “Asante Kotoko will win the league.”
Some fans, wanting to see how confident he was, asked the former Ghana international to put his money where his mouth is and suggested a GHS 10,000 bet.
Kuffour was not fazed and decided to raise the stakes.
“Let’s make it $5,000. I guarantee you Kotoko will win the league,” he said.
Even after Kotoko stumbled and dropped points on the opening weekend, his confidence has not wavered.
The Porcupine Warriors drew 2-2 with league newcomers Debibi United at Golden City Park in Berekum.
Kotoko will look for their first win of the season when they host Heart of Lions at Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday for Matchday Two.
Kuffour, who also played for King Faisal, won the UEFA Champions League with Bayern Munich in 2001.
