Ghana international Derrick Luckassen has joined Serbian champions Red Star Belgrade on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Cypriot side Pafos FC.
The 31-year-old centre-back has signed a three-year deal with the Belgrade giants, bolstering their defence ahead of the 2026/27 season and their UEFA Champions League campaign.
Luckassen arrives after an impressive two-year spell at Pafos, where he became a defensive mainstay after joining from Israeli outfit Maccabi Tel Aviv.
The experienced defender also enhanced his reputation at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, featuring twice for Ghana and scoring in the Black Stars’ group-stage encounter against Croatia.
Red Star acted quickly to secure the Ghana international despite interest from several clubs, adding a defender with extensive experience gained in the Netherlands, England, Turkey, Israel, Cyprus and now Serbia.
Luckassen is expected to link up with his new teammates immediately as Red Star step up preparations for the new season, with the club targeting another domestic league title and a strong run in European competition.
