GFA sets October 23 start date for 2026/27 Women’s Premier League

The Ghana Football Association has confirmed that the 2026/27 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League season will commence on Friday, October 23, 2026.

The new campaign will run across the weekend of October 23–26, with matches played simultaneously in both the Northern and Southern Zones. The season is expected to conclude between April 30 and May 3, 2027, setting the stage for several months of competitive football.

The league will retain its current structure, featuring 20 top clubs split evenly into two zones of 10 teams each. This format continues to encourage strong regional rivalries while maintaining competitive balance.

The Women’s Premier League has seen steady growth in recent years, supported by headline sponsor Malta Guinness and partners such as Nasco Electronics, whose contributions have enhanced the league’s visibility and development.

Announcing the schedule early gives clubs and stakeholders sufficient time to prepare, reflecting the GFA’s ongoing commitment to advancing and professionalizing women’s football in Ghana.
