Arsenal great Ian Wright is pushing for the club to re-sign Thomas Partey.
The Ghanaian international’s initial five-year contract expires this summer; reports link him to various European and Saudi Pro League teams.
However, there are reports suggesting the club will decide whether to extend the 31-year-old’s contract.
In an interview, Wright allayed fears about the midfielder’s future at the Emirates, stressing his exceptional abilities and key role in Arteta’s system.
“I don’t see why we should be thinking about it— there’s nothing to think about,” Wright said.
“Thomas Partey should be given another contract. It’s not easy to find a midfielder like Thomas.
“We don’t have many of them in the streets. He has shown that he deserves more and more,” he added.
Partey significantly aided Arsenal’s impressive Champions League quarter-final win against Real Madrid. Partey, who missed Arsenal’s 1-0 defeat at the Emirates on Tuesday, is expected to return for the Champions League return leg in Paris against PSG.
