DC United coach Lesesne impressed despite the draw

After their scoreless tie against last-place Montreal, D.C., United coach Troy Lesesne is happy with his team’s defensive performance and thinks they should continue to improve.

Speaking to the media after the game, Lesesne said it’s been a while since the team kept a clean sheet and was much relieved about that. He hopes it continues.

Despite not meeting the performance expectations, Lesesne was impressed with the clean sheet. He emphasized the importance of clean sheets and acknowledged the need for improvement in attack, noting that the team created chances but lacked intensity and combination play.

“Keeping the clean sheet is something we need to build off to keep a clean sheet. We have to be positive as well to complement our performance continuously.”

A double substitution aimed to stabilize the team, which it did, but the timing might have been premature. Also, the coach highlighted the need for better decision-making and pressure from his players to avoid being outplayed.

Lesesne added that the team will focus on these aspects to prepare for the next game against Orlando City and ensure we are ready to perform at the expected level.
