Black Stars technical team will change, says Henry Asante Twum

GFA Communications Director Henry Asante Twum reports a restructuring of the Black Stars’ technical team.
Reports suggest that a coaching staff reorganization before the March restart of 2026 World Cup qualifiers may result in the dismissal of assistant coaches Paintsil and Laumann.
Asante Twum, speaking on Asempa FM, confirmed upcoming changes within the team’s technical department while refraining from disclosing specific individuals.
“At the last Executive Council meeting, it was a thoroughly discussed subject, and several suggestions came up aside from the head coach [Otto Addo]; the assistant coaches’ input and contributions were discussed since they came on board in March last year.
“We reviewed the backroom staff’s work and discussed potential changes, but specific departures remain unconfirmed.”
“A decision was made to bring changes to the technical team, but in terms of the personalities, I cannot confirm, but the decision will be very soon because there is no time for the team because we are playing World Cup qualifiers in March so if you are bringing in new faces, that has to be done on time so they can settle down before the next phase of the qualifiers,” he added.
Despite Otto Addo and his assistant coaches John Paintsil, Joseph Laumann, and Fatau Dauda, the Black Stars missed the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualification after 20 years. The Black Stars suffered three losses in six qualifying matches and drew three times.
John Paintsil and Joseph Laumann replaced George Boateng and Didi Dramani as Black Stars assistant coaches in March 2024.
