Hearts of Oak fans are blaming spiritual factors for the team’s bad start to the season

Some fans believe that spiritual factors contributed to Hearts of Oak’s 2-0 defeat to Hearts of Lions.
Despite their strong pre-season preparations, including training in Togo, the Phobians have yet to win a match or score in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season. The league kicked off with a 1-0 loss against Basake Holy Stars, who were playing their first match at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The team’s difficulties sparked a strong reaction from fans, who booed the departing team bus and demanded that head coach Abubakar Ouattara be fired.
Nevertheless, the management fully backed the coach and players, urging them to secure a point in their game at Kpando.
Despite that, the team’s problems persisted as they allowed a goal in the last seven minutes of the match. Fans expressed their annoyance, highlighting the team’s apparent tendency to allow goals by larger margins.
One fan remarked, “Then, it could be 3-0 if management does not take action. We have the players, but nothing seems to be working.”
There were complaints about the performance of center referee Gabrel Opoku Arhin, especially related to the first goal, and demands for improved officiating.
“The GFA should help referees to help the game because this officiating is very bad,” they said.
Hearts of Oak will seek a change in luck in their upcoming match against Bechem United at the Accra Sports Stadium.
