John Barnes: Mohamed Kudus might replace Mohamed Salah at Liverpool

Former Liverpool player John Barnes has compared Ghanaian star Mohammed Kudus to Mohamed Salah and thinks Kudus might be Salah’s ideal replacement at Anfield.

Barnes lauded Kudus for his dynamic and direct approach to the game, which he thinks resembles Salah’s.

“Kudus was fantastic. He was sensational for West Ham last season. Even Mohamed Salah says he won’t be here in three years, so that could be a role that Kudus takes on,” Barnes told BettingExpert.

He added, “He’s young, dynamic, direct, and plays in a similar fashion to Mo.”

Salah, who transferred to Liverpool from AS Roma in 2017, is in the last year of his contract with the club and is still determining what lies ahead due to interest from Saudi Pro League clubs. His possibility of leaving has sparked speculation about who could step into his essential role.

Barnes is of the opinion that Kudus, who made a significant impact at West Ham United last season following his move from Ajax, could be a strong prospect. Kudus’s performance, with eight goals and five assists in the Premier League, and a goal in the Europa League for the Hammers, underscores his potential.

In the United States for preseason with West Ham, Kudus demonstrated his abilities on the field by scoring in a 3-1 defeat against Wolves. His recent remarkable performances have only increased speculation about a possible transfer to Liverpool or another elite club.

Liverpool is exploring future options, and with attributes and a style similar to Salah’s, Kudus emerges as a strong contender to replace the Egyptian star.
