Jakob Ingebrigtsen broke the indoor world records for the mile and the 1500m at the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meeting in France.
The mile was completed in 3 minutes, 45.14 seconds, by a 24-year-old from Norway at the Arena Stade Couvert, Lievin.
Last Saturday, the reigning Olympic 5,000m champion outdid American Yared Nuguse’s 3:46.63 at the Millrose Games in New York.
Ingebrigtsen’s 3:29.63 1500m indoor run shattered his previous record on the same track three years prior, followed by a mile record finish.
“It feels amazing. This is what happens in Lievin,” Ingebrigtsen said. “I’m a very happy man. You have to be focused for the whole race. It’s tough, but it’s worth it.”
