La Liga club Rayo Vallecano has secured the services of James Rodriguez, the former Real Madrid and Everton midfielder, who joined as a free agent.
The 33-year-old Colombian has been clubless since he departed from Sao Paulo in Brazil this summer.
Colombia’s Player provided six assists on their way to the final of the Copa America in July, earning him the tournament’s Player of the Year Award despite their loss to Argentina.
Rayo Vallecano is in eighth place in La Liga, starting the season with one win and one draw. In the previous season, they came in 17th place.
Rodriguez became the Golden Boot winner in the 2014 World Cup and then transferred to Real Madrid.
Before his two-year loan spell at Bayern Munich, he had played 125 games for the Spanish champions. In 2020, he subsequently became a member of Everton.
He featured in 26 games for the Toffees before transferring to Qatari club Al Rayyan, just one year into his two-year agreement. After one year, he joined Olympiakos and moved to Sao Paulo in 2023.
