Frimpong Manso, the head coach of Bibiani Gold Stars, has weighed in on the reasons behind the Black Stars’ underperformance in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
According to him, players’ lack of commitment is the reason for the team’s poor performance.
He believes the national team players’ unwillingness to give their lives for the country has impacted the qualification campaign.
“With this group (in AFCON QUALIFIERS), we should have easily qualified without mathematical calculations.
“Our team lacked the commitment to die for the nation, Otto Addo should drop all players who are unwilling to play because, given what they are doing, our local players can outperform them,” Coach Frimpong Manso said in an interview with Akoma FM.
Coach Manso believed the country should prioritize the World Cup qualification.
He is convinced that qualifying for the 2025 AFCON is impossible.
Coach Frimpong Manso suggests shifting our focus from AFCON to World Cup qualification. But let’s not lose hope, we can still make a strong comeback,” he added with determination.
After playing four matches in the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers, Ghana is third in Group F.
Sudan is currently in second place, trailing Angola by seven points, making it highly unlikely for the Black Stars to qualify without a miracle.
