2026 World Cup Qualifier: Ruthless Black Stars thrash Chad 5-0

The Black Stars of Ghana defeated Chad 5-0 in their fifth World Cup qualifier at Accra Sports Stadium.
Ghana’s commanding win in Group I earned them 12 points and a strong position for qualification.
A second-minute rebound goal by Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo put Ghana ahead, reflecting their early control of the game.
Williams headed home Schindler’s cross to make it 2-0 in the 32nd minute. Semenyo was fouled, resulting in a penalty kick that Jordan Ayew scored two minutes before halftime, securing a 3-0 lead.
Ghana’s attack continued in the second half. Monaco’s Mohammed Salisu headed in a precise corner from Ernest Nuamah, extending their advantage. With a fine pass by Ayew, Nuamah scored to end the match in the 69th minute.
Coach Otto Addo got off to a great start with a strong team boasting Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus, and the impressive Mohammed Salisu.
Benjamin Asare of Hearts of Oak made his international debut, but it was relatively inactive due to Chad’s minimal offensive pressure.
In the second half, Partey was substituted by Cercle Brugge’s Lawrence Agyekum, making his first appearance.
This result means Ghana is now focused on a critical game versus Madagascar this coming Monday in Morocco.
A victory would solidify their lead in Group I and bring them closer to qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Comoros will be Chad’s next opponent, as Chad is still without a victory.
