Exciting news for British heavyweight boxing fans! The potential clash between Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois in September is generating a lot of buzz.
Joshua, 34, watched Dubois defeat Filip Hrgovic last Saturday in Saudi Arabia en route to his Wembley Stadium battle on September 21.
Frank Warren, Dubois’ promoter, confirmed conversations.
Dubois, 26, defeated Hrgovic in their IBF ‘interim’ title battle, putting him in line to challenge Oleksandr Usyk.
Ukrainian Usyk wants his IBF championship to stay so he may fight Tyson Fury for the undisputed title on December 21.
Should the IBF strip Usyk of his title, Daniel Dubois could find himself as the new world champion. This would open the door for a potential championship bout with Anthony Joshua.
Joshua has won four straight and is a two-time unified world champion.
Joshua has rebounded well after losing the world titles to Usyk, stopping three times in his last four wins.
Two wins have helped Dubois recover from his August 2023 loss to Usyk.
London stopped Jarrell Miller and Hrgovic, a fight in which Dubois was the underdog.
