Carlos Queiroz said he was proud of Ghana’s performance, even though they lost 2-0 to Côte d’Ivoire in the 2027 AFCON qualifiers. He said the Black Stars showed character and resilience in Bouaké.
Côte d’Ivoire controlled possession at the Stade de la Paix and won with goals from Malick Yalcouyé and Franck Kessié. Still, Queiroz said Ghana looked more dangerous in attack and created better chances.
Queiroz admitted Côte d’Ivoire deserved to win, but he praised his players for their determination and fighting spirit in tough conditions.
“I am very proud of my team and the way the players fought against adversity,” Queiroz said after the match.
Ghana have yet to earn a point after their first Group C match and will try to recover when they play The Gambia in Accra on September 29.
