The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has named former Ghana international Godwin Attram as the new assistant coach of the Black Stars. He will join Carlos Queiroz’s technical team as they prepare for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Attram takes over from Desmond Ofei, who will now focus only on his job as head coach of Ghana’s U23 team, the Black Meteors.
These changes are part of a restructuring of Ghana’s national team coaching staff as the Black Stars get ready for their upcoming international matches.
Attram brings a mix of playing and coaching experience to the role, having represented Ghana and spent spells in Europe with PSV Eindhoven and Silkeborg IF.
After retiring, the former midfielder moved into coaching and player development, including a spell as head coach of Great Olympics and involvement in Ghana’s national youth team structures.
His background with young players and his knowledge of Ghanaian football will now support Queiroz’s technical team as the Black Stars start their new AFCON qualification campaign.
Ghana will open their qualifiers away to Côte d’Ivoire on 24 September before hosting The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium on 29 September.
Meanwhile, Ofei will now focus fully on the Black Meteors as they start preparing for the next Olympic Games qualifiers.
He previously worked with the Black Satellites before leading the U23 team. He managed both his youth national team duties and his job as Black Stars assistant coach.
This restructuring lets both coaches focus on their main jobs. Attram joins Queiroz’s staff, while Ofei takes full charge of the Black Meteors.
