Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz says he chose his squad for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and the friendly against Morocco based on regular playing time, physical fitness, and players’ readiness to compete.
The Portuguese coach said his technical team closely monitored eligible players before picking the squad, focusing on their current form, fitness, and how much they have been playing competitively.
“Our technical staff did our usual in-depth monitoring of the players. We are also well aware of the limitations or times when some players have not been active,” Queiroz said.
“At this stage, we always follow one main rule, unless there are special cases: players need to be playing competitively, physically fit, and fully ready to represent the national team.”
Mohammed Kudus and Alexander Djiku are back in Queiroz’s squad after missing the 2026 FIFA World Cup because of injuries.
Captain Jordan Ayew is also in the squad, but Thomas Partey is missing because of injury concerns.
