Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz has named Kwasi Sibo in his 24-man squad for the start of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, even though Sibo has not yet played a competitive match for his new club Al-Swehly.
The 27-year-old moved to the Libyan club from Spain’s Real Oviedo this summer. His transfer drew attention after reports of a two-year deal worth $10 million.
Although Sibo has not played much since joining his new club, Queiroz has still included him in Ghana’s squad for the upcoming qualifiers against Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia.
The Black Stars will start their campaign against Côte d’Ivoire at the Stade de la Paix in Bouaké on 24 September. They will then return home to play The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium on 27 September.
Ghana will finish the international window with a friendly match against Morocco at the Grand Stade de Tanger on 4 October.
Sibo earned his place in the squad after proving himself as a key midfield option for Ghana during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
He played in all four of the Black Stars’ matches at the tournament, totaling 249 minutes as Ghana reached the knockout stage.
Sibo started in the goalless draw against England and also played against Panama, Croatia, and Colombia. Ghana’s run ended against Colombia in the knockout round.
