New Asante Kotoko head coach Eric Tinkler has committed to building a team that will compete for titles in Ghana and across Africa.
The experienced South African coach was introduced as the Porcupine Warriors’ new head coach ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
In an interview with the club’s official website, Tinkler shared his enthusiasm for leading one of Africa’s most successful clubs.
“I am honored and excited to join one of Africa’s most storied football institutions. Asante Kotoko’s rich history, passion for success, and ambition for development are well known across the continent.
“I look forward to working with the players, staff, and management to build a team that can compete and win both at home and on the continental stage.
“I feel proud to be associated with this great club at this historic moment,” he said.
Tinkler brings extensive coaching experience, having managed top South African clubs such as Orlando Pirates, SuperSport United, Cape Town City, Maritzburg United, and Bidvest Wits.
His achievements include guiding Orlando Pirates to the CAF Champions League final, leading SuperSport United to the CAF Confederation Cup final, and winning domestic trophies such as the MTN8 and Telkom Knockout.
Before coaching, Tinkler had a distinguished playing career. He captained South Africa, earned 48 international caps, played at the 1998 FIFA World Cup, and was part of the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations-winning squad.
At club level, he played professionally in England, Italy, and Portugal for Barnsley, Cagliari, and Vitória de Setúbal.
Asante Kotoko will begin pre-season preparations in the coming days as Tinkler starts work ahead of the new campaign.
