Queiroz names 28-man Black Stars squad for Wales friendly and World Cup camp

Carlos Queiroz has unveiled a 28-man roster for Ghana’s World Cup training camp, setting the stage for an exciting international friendly against Wales in Cardiff.

The squad features five goalkeepers, nine defenders, seven midfielders, and seven attackers, as Ghana intensifies its preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Notably, Baba Abdul Rahman rejoins the national team after years on the sidelines, while Ernest Nuamah makes a triumphant return following nearly a year’s absence.

Defender Abdul Mumin’s stellar club performances this season have rightfully earned him a spot in the squad.

Several key players retained their places in the squad, including Thomas Partey, Kwasi Sibo, Fatawu Issahaku, Christopher Bonsu Baah, Antoine Semenyo, Iñaki Williams, Brandon Thomas-Asante, and Jordan Ayew.

However, midfielder Mohammed Kudus was left out because of injury concerns ahead of the tournament.

After the friendly against Wales, the squad will be trimmed, with reports indicating that two players, likely goalkeepers, will miss out on the final World Cup selection.

The Black Stars kicked off their camp on Monday, May 25, 2026, diving straight into training at Dragon Park as they gear up for the clash with Wales on June 2.

Ghana will treat the friendly as a crucial dress rehearsal before heading to North America for the World Cup, where they face Panama, England, and Croatia in Group L.
