Ghana drawn into tough Group D at 2026 U-17 AFCON

Ghana national under-17 football team has been placed in Group D for the 2026 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, which will take place in Morocco from May 13 to June 2.

The Confederation of African Football’s draw in Cairo placed Ghana alongside Senegal, South Africa, and Algeria in Group D.

Group D is widely regarded as the “Group of Death,” with each team expected to present a significant challenge. Senegal is considered a continental powerhouse, while South Africa and Algeria are known for their tactical discipline and technical quality.

Ghana returns to the tournament for the first time since 2017, aiming to progress beyond the group stage and secure qualification for the FIFA U-17 World Cup. The top two teams from each group will progress to the knockout stage and qualify automatically, while third-placed teams will compete in playoffs for the remaining spots.
