AFCON 2025: Amad scores in Ivory Coast-Cameroon draw

Côte d’Ivoire, the defending champions, drew 1-1 with Cameroon in their second Group F game at the AFCON, Morocco 2025. The thrilling game in Marrakesh remained deadlocked after 90 minutes.

A deflected shot from Junior Tchamadeu cancelled out Amad Diallo’s brilliant goal.

Both teams were cautious at the start, with the opening moves strategic. Christian Kofane almost scored for Cameroon at the 20-minute mark, but his header hit the crossbar.

Côte d’Ivoire thought they had the lead at halftime after Franck Kessié scored, but it was disallowed for offside.

The match became exciting after the break. The second half began with end-to-end football, then Diallo scored a beautiful goal.

The Manchester United forward got the ball on the right, then cut inside to his left foot, and made a wonderful curling shot that went past the diving goalkeeper Devis Epassy.

Cameroon reacted quickly. Tchamadeu scored from the box just five minutes later. Konan’s deflection made the goal, tying the score for the Indomitable Lions.

Both teams fought hard for a victory with the scores tied. The Ivorian defense did a good job containing Bryan Mbeumo, and his closest shot was a free kick from the edge of the area that went just wide.

Even with pressure near the end, neither team scored.

Cameroon and Côte d’Ivoire are tied with four points, the same goals scored, and the same goals conceded.

The focus shifts to the final, crucial group stage matches on New Year’s Eve. Cameroon plays Mozambique in Agadir, while the champions face Gabon in Marrakesh.
