Bibiani Gold Stars became Ghana Premier League champion for the first time in club history after thrashing relegation side Accra Lions 4-0 at Duns Park on Sunday.
Following a stumble against Holy Stars, Nations FC secured their inaugural championship with a win before a jubilant home crowd.
GoldStars swiftly broke the deadlock; Abdul Farouk expertly finished a teasing cross from near the box only four minutes into the match.
With Accra Lions’ defense caught napping, Kelvin Oppong’s set-piece goal fourteen minutes later extended the GPL winners’ lead.

The goal caused a frenzy among home fans, who felt as if they were dreaming.
The home team enjoyed a comfortable 2-0 lead at the break, after a goalless and non-threatening opening 14 minutes from both sides.
Numerous missed chances by the home team in the second half were overshadowed by a goal from their leading scorer, which ultimately secured the win.
The home team won the trophy thanks to Atta Kumi’s third goal.
A fourth goal from Frimpong Manso’s side made the win certain.
His 11th goal of the season made him the team’s leading scorer.
With this victory, GoldStars join Medeam (2023) and Samartex (2024) as the only three consecutive first-time GPL champions.
This victory marks their place as the third Western team to win the GPL, following Medeama and Samartex’s wins.
