Manchester City and Al-Hilal have reached a £21.2m agreement for the sale of defender Joao Cancelo.
The move is still pending Cancelo’s agreement, but personal terms are not expected to be a problem.
Should he agree, the 30-year-old will likely sign a three-year deal, concluding his five-year tenure at Etihad Stadium.
According to Pep Guardiola, the city manager, Cancelo may have another chance to play for the club.
However, the disagreement that caused Cancelo to be loaned to Bayern Munich and Barcelona for the past 18 months was always bound to be a significant obstacle.
Cancelo has not participated in City’s two Premier League fixtures this season.
The reason he couldn’t be present at the Community Shield victory against Manchester United was because a number of City players, who had played in the European Championship in Germany, were not able to participate.
Initially, the Portugal defender was Guardiola’s first inverted full-back, but he eventually lost his position shortly after renewing his contract in 2022.
